Barbara continues to serve as an advisor to LifeSteps®, Inc. as she enjoys retirement. She brings over 30 years’ experience in behavioral approaches to weight management and provides special insight as one of the original developers of the LifeSteps® program in 1983. Her master’s thesis at the University of Missouri, Columbia is titled, “Nutritionists Apply Self-Control Training, Food Exchange Plan Treatment, and No-Treatment in the Treatment of Obesity.” She has co-authored peer-review papers on behavioral approaches to obesity management and has given numerous presentations and workshops on the topic
Recently, Barb was recognized for her outstanding work with the LifeSteps® program and in the field of weight management by receiving the prestigious Excellence in Weight Management Practice Award from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group. She also holds a Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management from the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
